mselect is looking to hire a Civil Engineer for an international energy client in Basra, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in camps construction and infrastructure. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.

ACTIVITIES
- Review project document, specifications and drawings to understand with the requirement
- Oversee the construction of the facilities, to ensure contractors adhere to contractual terms with regards to Security and HSSE, specifications, costs and schedules.
- Track project progress, ensuring adherence to timelines, budgets and Company standards.
- Ensure compliance with Iraqi codes, laws, decrees, and regulations
- Identify and mitigate project risks, implementing corrective actions as necessary
- Develop and update the project schedule, monitor progress and assess the risk of a missed milestones
- Verify the monthly progress report submitted by the contractor.
- Conduct regular safety tour, record findings and monitor the action plan
- Reporting any anomalies or deviations to Senior Project Engineer and propose corrective action plans if necessary.
- Manage the project’s document control system and compile all necessary documents upon project completion
- Assess contractor performance and provide constructive evaluations
- Prepare lessons learned from the project for future improvement
ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Assure the construction of a sustainable base camp as affiliate’s headquarters with expatriate staff accommodation.
- Responsible for establishing communication channels, holding meetings and sharing project information.
- Budget monitoring and progress tracking.
- Ensure progress and successful completion of the project as per scope, budget and planning.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Engineering degree and a minimum of 5 years of experience in the camps construction and infrastructure, a significant part of which was in project management role from project inception through engineering, procurement, construction, and commissioning.
- Experience with project management, collaborate with multi-discipline activities
- Experience in contractor management and project supervision.
- Well versed in communication and project documentation aspects of project management.
- Quality of rigor, sense of organization (management of priorities), strong communication skills, strong problem solving to address unexpected challenges that may arise, as well as adaptability and resilience to work.
- Fluent in English and Arabic.
