Job Summary
We are seeking a detail-oriented Cost Accountant to join our team. You will be responsible for analysing costs, managing inventory, assisting with budgeting, and ensuring accurate financial reporting to drive profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Cost Analysis: Analyse and report on manufacturing costs, including raw materials, labour, and overhead, to ensure accurate cost control
- Variance Reporting: Prepare detailed cost variance reports, investigating discrepancies and recommending corrective actions to management
- Inventory Management: Oversee and maintain accurate inventory valuation, conduct regular inventory audits, and monitor stock levels to optimize inventory turnover
- Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the preparation of annual budgets and forecasts for production costs, ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives
- Pricing Strategy Support: Evaluate product margins and cost structures to support pricing decisions, ensuring competitiveness and profitability
- Process Improvement: Collaborate with operations and production teams to identify and implement cost-saving initiatives and process improvements
- Cost Audits: Conduct regular audits of manufacturing costs and processes to ensure compliance with internal policies and external regulations
- Financial Reporting: Prepare journal entries for cost allocation, assist with month-end closing activities, and provide timely cost reports for financial analysis
- Cross-Department Collaboration: Work closely with various departments, including production, purchasing, and sales, to gather data and insights for accurate cost assessments
- Training and Development: Mentor junior accounting staff and provide training on cost accounting practices and systems
- Capital Expenditure Analysis: Evaluate the cost and benefits of capital projects and support ROI analyses for new investments and machinery
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5-7 years of experience in cost accounting, preferably in manufacturing
- Strong Excel skills and experience with SAP systems
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
