mselect is looking to hire a GIS Specialist for an international energy client in Basrah, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of relevant experience, specifically in energy and renewables project development. Fluency in both English and Arabic is required.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
- Manage all Geospatial Data Management activities
- Ensure integrity, security, organization, and availability of geospatial data and cartographic documents
- Ensure compliance with company rules and guidelines for geospatial data management
- Adhere to Company HSE (Safety, Health, and Environment) policies in GIS-related activities
- Build, support, and maintain GIS geospatial database integrity for the GGIP, ensuring data updates and monitoring quality
- Develop and maintain GIS data management procedures for the project
- Propose and implement effective GIS workflows and data transfer processes
- Build and maintain WebGIS and GIS desktop solutions for data delivery
- Produce and manage complex cartographic documents in line with HQ standards
- Conduct GIS studies, including facility layouts, pipeline and cable routing, and site selection for decision support
- Contribute to geomatics data acquisition, including topography, remote sensing, and geophysical/geotechnical surveys
- Execute geodetic calculations as needed
- Provide GIS application support to internal teams and end users
- Collaborate with HQ geospatial data specialists to enhance GIS and cartographic solutions
- Promote the use of GIS systems and geospatial data across the organization
KEY QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree in Geographical Information Systems, Geosciences, or Information Management disciplines
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in energy and renewables project development
- Expertise in Geographic Information Systems, specifically ESRI ArcGIS Suite (including ArcGIS for Desktop and ArcSDE database), Geoserver, and familiarity with QGIS
- Proficiency in Cartographic Tools (AutoCAD and/or MicroStation)
- Strong knowledge of Geodesy, Python, and SQL programming
- Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills, with the ability to work autonomously
- Highly motivated, open-minded team player
- Proficiency in English and Arabic
- Strong technical understanding of GIS and spatial data management
- Ability to propose innovative GIS solutions
- Team-oriented mindset with excellent organizational abilities
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
