mselect is looking to hire a Senior Systems Engineer (Development) — Power BI for a national oil and gas operator in Doha, Qatar. Candidates must have a minimum of 8 years of experience as a data scientist, data analyst, or similar role, with proven expertise in data modeling, ETL processes, data warehouse development, and creating effective Power BI dashboards. Fluency in English is a must.

- Collaborate closely with business stakeholders to understand and refine dashboard and reporting needs
- Lead requirements gathering sessions, actively listening to feedback to ensure solutions align with business goals
- Translate complex datasets into intuitive, actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making
- Rapidly prototype and iterate on dashboards to deliver user-centric, impactful solutions
- Design scalable data warehouses for centralized storage and efficient analytics
- Develop and maintain efficient data pipelines to automate the ingestion, transformation, and preparation of data for reporting and analytical purposes
- Build optimized data models to support fast, reliable data retrieval and analysis
- Expert in writing cost-efficient SQL and DAX queries to support high-performance analytics
- Design and develop visually compelling, interactive dashboards using Power BI
- Create insightful reports that effectively communicate data stories to diverse business audiences
- Utilize Power BI for trend analysis, forecasting, and predictive modelling to support proactive business strategies
- Monitor and optimize report performance, including dataset refresh schedules, query load times, and resource usage
- Integrate Power BI with external tools and platforms to enhance reporting capabilities and data connectivity
- Maintain governance and compliance standards across Power BI environments
- Manage and optimize Power BI environments, including integration with external tools and platforms
- Partner with cross-functional teams to understand evolving data needs and deliver tailored solutions
- Stay current with emerging trends in data science, analytics, and BI technologies to continuously enhance capabilities
Requirements
Qualification:
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience)
- Certification in data science, Statistics, Computer Science, or a related field (or equivalent experience) is preferred
- Minimum 8 years of experience as a Data Scientist/Data Analyst or in a similar role
- Proven experience in data modelling, ETL processes and data warehouse development
- Proven experience in building user-friendly and impactful dashboards in Power BI
- Strong understanding of data visualization principles and best practices
- Ability to effectively translate data into visually compelling, aesthetically pleasing visualizations that would communicate meaningful insights and narratives
- Proficiency in Advanced SQL, DAX, Power Query, Python, and other programming languages for data cleaning/wrangling, scripting, and automation
- Strong expertise in Power BI for data visualization, Data cleaning (Power Query), report development, and dashboard design
- Solid understanding of data modelling concepts and database technologies (SQL Server, Oracle, MySQL, etc)
- Expertise in the Administration of the Power BI service
- Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into plain language
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
