Role Synopsis
- The Field Security Liaison Officer (FSLO) serves as an operational liaison for the Security Department, engaging with OPF Commanders and ISF to support field operations
- Responsible for reporting incidents and issues to the Field Security Liaison Manager (FSLM) and providing direct assistance when requested
- Supports the Information Assessment Analyst (IAA) in the absence of the Senior Liaison Officer (SLO), as operational needs dictate
- Assists the HQ Security Manager (HQSM) in managing VIP access control procedures and delivering translation services in support of security operations
- May be required to travel to Baghdad to coordinate with ministries and government officials in support of security operations
Principal Accountabilities
- Assisting the FSM and security team in the delivery of security oversight to daily operational field activity
- Directly support the Field Security Liaison Manager (FSLM), reporting incidents that do not warrant escalation to the Field Security Manager (FSM)
- Act as the primary interface between security, the OPF, and Iraqi security forces, always
- Be prepared to support the IAA with BSOC and BAOC as required in the absence of SLO
- Be prepared to support the IAA in the absence of the SLO, and assist the SLO in the development and maintenance of information capability
- Assist the HQSM in the delivery of access control protocols during VIP visits and in the event of a security-related incident at the HQ SACP
- Additional responsibilities likely to include, but are not limited to: provision of task-specific support to the investigations team and general translation tasks
- Present key information and paperwork for approval at Iraqi governmental offices when requested by Security
- Cover for the QA SLO in his absence, providing liaison between Security and the nominated community committee
Key Challenges
- Build and maintain effective working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders, including both Iraqi and expatriate personnel
- Establish credibility and earn the trust and respect of senior Iraqi security force officials operating in and at Basra International Airport (BIA)
Requirements
- Candidates should have a military or police background and the ability to liaise with senior commanders
- Excellent spoken and written English
- Personable and patient, with the ability to strike up rapport with both local and international people
- Calm under pressure and able to resolve disputes firmly but fairly
- Presentable, physically fit, diligent and self-motivated
- Good presentation skills to deliver the site induction
- Computer literate with Microsoft Word and PowerPoint
