mselect is looking to hire a Community Relations Communications Officer for an international oil and gas operator in Sulaymaniyah, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of progressive, responsible experience in various CR related positions, either supporting or working directly within the oil and gas Industry or a relevant non-governmental organization. Fluency in English and Kurdish is a must.
Job Objective
As Community Relations (CR) Communications Officer, you will be the primary point of contact for communications between the client and the Block Region villagers and stakeholders. You will take all calls to the provided Contact Number for the Community on a 24/7 basis. You will be the initial point of contact for local visitors to the Camp. You will log all requests, comments, inquiries, and threats received by phone or in person, review the log with the Community Relations Team Leader, and respond according to their guidance. The Community Relations Communications Officer will report to the Community Relations Team Leader and will take additional guidance/instruction from the AP/CR Manager.

Job Objective

The Community Relations Communications Officer will report to the Community Relations Team Leader and will take additional guidance/instruction from the AP/CR Manager.
Key Responsibilities
- Be the first contact for Block region villagers and stakeholders, either by phone or a visit to the Camp
- Establish a consistent and professional approach to managing community relations that meets the company’s strategic objectives and maintains a positive corporate reputation
- In all communications, represent the company’s policies and procedures, ethical standards, development plans (per approved script), and the overarching commitment to improving the local communities in which we work
- Continuously follow the guidance of the CR TL and AP/CR Manager in providing information to callers and returning calls
- Man, the” Meet and Greet” CR reception room at the Main Camp
- Act as a filter to the CR Team Leader, separating him/her from conflicts generated from the local community
- Play a key role in crisis communications and emergency response activities, or in the event of the Emergency Response Plan being activated
- Have a comprehensive understanding of the community relations and communications aspects of the ERP
- Distribute the Central Contact Phone Number among the local community and stakeholders
- Coordinate and log the activities of the CSR shovel/loader according to the instructions of the CR TL
- Maintain a computerized Call Log (name of visitor/caller, date, time, requests/complaints, follow-up action and calls, etc
- Assist in the implementation and monitoring of the Local Hiring Policy
- Assist in identifying and mapping all local and indigenous communities with legal or customary use tenure in areas of the Company’s operations
- Assist in identifying all community consultation requirements and approvals necessary for direct or indirect company operations
- Assist in preparing and submitting all required monitoring, reporting or other requirements specified in the community’s consultation requirements and approvals
- Interpret relevant statutes and regulations and assist operations staff with decisions that relate to regulatory compliance
- Assist in managing the objectives and performance of contractors tasked with carrying out specific community consultation processes (needs assessment)
- Assist in providing community relations awareness, education, and training to company staff and contractors
- Interface and liaise closely with community stakeholders to ensure the successful implementation of the Company’s operations and compliance with relevant laws and regulations
- Assist in developing a network of key contacts with stakeholder groups and industry peers in the Company’s operations
- Participate in special projects as requested from time to time
- Assist the CR Team in representing the company in the relevant government agencies responsible for the area of operations
- Assisting in team administration and logistics, or other related tasks
- Provide advice and full support to the CR team in the field to solve community-related issues
- Observe the recruitment and termination process regarding local employees to prevent violations of associated rights for both parties and report relevant issues
- Such other services within the Employee’s capabilities by the client may be requested from time to time
Requirements
- A minimum of five (5) years progressive, responsible experience in various CR related positions, either supporting or working directly within the Oil and Gas Industry or a relevant Non-Governmental Organization
- Basic computer skills to allow computerized log entries of all calls or visits
- Display characteristics of the organizational culture, which are ethics, integrity, honesty, trust, teamwork and collegiality
- Exhibit strong interpersonal, organizational, communication and cross-cultural skills
- Ability to priorities and plan workloads and meet competing deadlines in a dynamic, fast-paced environment of an international junior oil and gas company
