mselect is looking to hire a Business Planning Manager for one of the major holding groups in Baghdad, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in business planning, strategy development, or financial analysis within the banking or financial services industry. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.

Job Purpose
We are seeking a highly skilled and strategic Business Planning Manager to support the CEO in executing the bank’s strategy and optimizing overall performance. The ideal candidate will have at least 5 years of experience in business planning, strategy execution, and financial analysis within the banking or financial services sector. This role requires strong analytical skills, project management expertise, and the ability to collaborate with multiple departments to drive operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Planning & Execution:
  • Assist in the development and execution of the bank’s strategic plans to ensure growth, profitability, and sustainability
  • Align business objectives with the bank’s vision and mission, providing recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborate with senior management to set long-term and short-term goals for the bank
Performance Monitoring & Reporting:
  • Track and analyze Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for various departments, ensuring alignment with business objectives
  • Prepare reports and presentations for senior management, highlighting performance trends, risks, and opportunities
  • Develop forecasting models to assess the impact of strategic initiatives
Market Research & Competitor Analysis:
  • Conduct in-depth market research to understand industry trends, customer behaviors, and emerging opportunities
  • Analyze competitors’ strategies and provide insights to enhance the bank’s competitive position
  • Assist in identifying new business opportunities and areas for expansion
Budgeting & Financial Analysis:
  • Work closely with the finance team to develop annual budgets, forecasts, and financial models
  • Identify cost optimization opportunities and ensure financial discipline across departments
  • Evaluate the financial impact of strategic projects and investments
Project Management & Process Improvement:
  • Lead and manage strategic projects to improve operational efficiency and customer experience
  • Collaborate with different departments to identify inefficiencies and implement process improvements
  • Ensure timely execution of projects and initiatives aligned with business objectives
Stakeholder Management & Communication:
  • Act as a liaison between the CEO and internal departments to ensure smooth communication and execution of business plans
  • Coordinate with external stakeholders, including regulators, partners, and investors, to ensure compliance and alignment with industry standards
  • Prepare high-level reports and presentations for board meetings, investor briefings, and regulatory submissions
Risk Management & Compliance:
  • Identify potential business risks and develop mitigation strategies
  • Ensure that all strategic initiatives comply with local and international banking regulations
  • Work closely with risk and compliance teams to align business planning with regulatory requirements
Policy & Procedure Development:
  • Assist in formulating and updating policies and procedures to improve governance and operational effectiveness
  • Ensure that all business processes are aligned with the industry’s best practices and internal controls

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in Business Management, Finance, Economics, or a related field
  • Experience: Minimum 5 years of experience in business planning, strategy development, or financial analysis within the banking or financial services industry
  • Languages: Arabic & English (is a must)
Technical Skills:
  • Strong analytical and financial modelling skills
  • Proficiency in data analysis tools (Excel, Power BI, or similar)
  • Knowledge of banking operations, risk management, and regulatory compliance
Soft Skills:
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills
  • Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously
  • High level of attention to detail and organizational skills

  • Adapts communication and behavior to be inclusive and respectful of diverse groups
  • Ensures fairness and equity in decision-making processes, such as resource allocation, promotions, and project assignments

Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree (MBA or equivalent) is a plus
  • Experience working with senior management or C-suite executives
  • Knowledge of banking regulations in Iraq and international best practices
