mselect is looking to hire a Construction Supervisor (Civil) for a national oil and gas operator in Doha, Qatar. Candidates must have 10-15 years of experience in Civil and Infrastructure works, Mega Projects in the Oil & Gas industry, including extensive experience in large-scale solar (Photovoltaic) projects in onshore. Fluency in English is a must.

Key Responsibilities
  • Monitoring of all related activities within the project site, conducting regular inspection, and ensuring the work being carried out is in line with the approved JHA, Risk Assessment, and Method Statement and the approved Permit to Work System, as well as the latest instructions
  • Responsible for identifying and implementing risk reduction measures in all areas and phases of construction
  • To assist in checking and reviewing the work Method Statement, JHA, Safety Certification and other related documents submitted by the Project Consultant/Contractors
  • To take necessary action in case of any lapse and/or lagging
  • Supervises and coordinates with contractors to achieve the Project Overall Safety Goal
  • Recommends appropriate solutions and proposes changes as necessary
  • Attends meetings with contractors, sub-contractors and vendors to review work site progress every week or more frequently as required
  • Analyses and addresses critical areas and provides a prompt solution
  • Ability to perform field inspection, survey, review, advise and propose administrative close-out precautions
  • Ensure that the client's safety regulations for contractors, project safety plans and the client/State of Qatar's environmental regulations are understood and followed by the contractors
  • Ability to work effectively with various personnel and in a team, with flexibility in work assignments
  • Ability to undertake and coordinate accident and incident investigations
  • Provide guidance and technical assistance to contractors
  • Encounter issues that are multi-disciplinary while working as a construction focal point for a project
  • Interact with internal departments and contractors, involving discussion of project information, possible solutions to problems and coordination of work
  • Update daily and weekly construction progress reports for assigned projects and verify contractors' progress statements for accuracy
  • Coordinate with concerned parties to resolve routine site issues and refer technical queries to the senior construction supervisor
  • Review and endorse the Construction Dossier for the assigned projects

Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering or Diploma in a relevant engineering Discipline equivalent
  • Minimum 10-15 years in Civil and Infrastructure works, Mega Projects in the Oil & Gas industry, including extensive experience in large-scale solar (Photovoltaic) projects in onshore
  • Conversant with Local, National & International Codes, Standards and Specifications
  • Computer Knowledge is an advantage
  • Experienced in conducting and managing protection of live oil and gas plants as per approved design requirements, including for Geotechnical and Topographical surveys
  • Ability to work within a diverse cultural environment
  • Demonstrated interpersonal/team building skills
  • Self-starter with the ability to drive accomplishments
  • Good command of the English language (oral & written)
  • Knowledge of industry engineering standards, quality control, safety and environmental awareness
  • Good supervisory, planning and coordination skills
  • Good communication and report-writing skills
