Key Responsibilities
- Compile, clean, and validate physical and digital data inventory records (e.g. records describing digital datasets, documents, hardcopy documents in archives, digital media such as tapes and CDs in the warehouse, physical rock and fluid samples in the warehouse, and other relevant information to create an accurate overview of data assets of the organization)
- Collaborate with departments to identify and catalogue data sources (both structured and unstructured)
- Use Excel, SQL, and data visualization tools (e.g. Power BI) to track and report inventory status
- Assist in implementing data governance processes and metadata tagging for easy retrieval
- Identify discrepancies, duplicates, or gaps in data records and escalate issues as needed
- Support senior analysts in generating inventory reports for compliance and operational use
Requirements
Education:

- 0–2 years in data analysis, inventory management, or a similar role
- Internships or academic projects involving data cleaning/data organization are a plus
- Proficiency in Excel (PivotTables, VLOOKUP) and understanding of SQL for data querying
- Familiarity with Power BI, Tableau, or Python/R or similar (preferred but not required)
- Basic understanding of data governance and metadata principles
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to work with cross-functional teams
- Excellent written/verbal communication for documentation
- Knowledge of oil and gas industry data types (e.g. well logs, seismic data, geospatial data)
- Exposure to data and document management tools
