mselect is looking to hire a Corporate Affairs and Communications Manager for an FMCG client in Baghdad, Iraq. Candidates must have more than 5 years of successful professional experience in public, corporate, external, regulatory, or government affairs departments in the private sector, preferably in regulated industries. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.
Job Purpose
The incumbent will lead the development and implementation of corporate/external/regulatory/public affairs strategies and communications programs in the markets within the Middle East and Shisha Cluster in line with the corporate’s global strategy and will work closely with the CA&C Director and other CA&C managers in the cluster. She/he needs to understand the operating environment (including social, economic, political, business and regulatory) where the company operates and anticipate and mitigate risks related to any changes in the operating environment.

Key Responsibilities
- Develop and execute strategic engagement plans for the respective markets in the cluster in line with the company’s strategy
- Collaborate with the team to develop advocacy materials and position papers including but not limited to taxation, standard specifications, anti-illicit trade and regulations
- Identify, anticipate, and manage regulatory changes and risks across the markets
- Build and maintain a solid network of stakeholders and policymakers
- Understand the political, economic, regulatory, and business environment
- Ensure prompt communication of any changes and risks in the operating environment to the internal stakeholders
- Act as a spokesperson for the company’s defense positions and execute the agreed action plan
- Assist and manage cross-functional projects on corporate affairs and communications related to business issues
- Strengthen the brand by enhancing our corporate reputation both internally and externally
- Develop and implement internal and external communications strategies utilizing essential communication tools
- Develop and communicate top-down messages from the company’s leaders
- Partner with HQ functions and markets to develop and implement employee communications plans and campaigns
Requirements
Qualifications:
- University Bachelor or master's degree in political science, Public Administration, Business Administration, Law, Journalism or related subject area
- Fluent in Arabic (required) and English (required) speaking, reading and writing skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office
- 5+ years of successful professional experience in public, corporate, external, regulatory, or government affairs departments in the private sector, preferably in regulated industries
- Solid understanding of the business and the contribution of corporate affairs and communications in achieving business goals Solid understanding of tax and regulatory issues and how they affect the business
- Outstanding oral, written, and interpersonal communication skills; Ability to develop and deliver presentations, talking points, and position papers in both Arabic and English
- Ability to build and manage value-based and constructive relations and engage with external and internal stakeholders at all levels
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills, influential, strong leadership, teamwork qualities, and public speaking skills are highly desirable
- Previous Tobacco industry experience will be an advantage
