mselect is looking to hire a Tax Advisor for an international energy client in Basrah, Iraq. Candidates must have a minimum of 4-5 years of experience with a Big4 in tax advisory function and industry experience in managing tax rules for an entity will be preferable. Fluency in English and Arabic is a must.

Key Responsibilities
CIT (Corporate Income Tax):
- Reviewing the financial statements to ensure tax is correctly reflected and preparing the tax returns
- Coordination with auditors for tax part and ensure tax is correct on both IFRS and local Iraqi GAAP FS
- Filing of the financial statements and tax returns
- Discussing the tax assessment with the inspector
- Obtaining the final tax assessment
- Settling the tax and obtaining the receipt
- Preparing the monthly tax calculation
- Submitting the tax declaration forms to the GCT and obtaining the receipt monthly
- Preparing the annual tax calculation and reconciling it against the paid taxes during the year
- Printing the annual forms and submitting them to the GCT
- Discussing and obtaining the annual assessment
- Settling the tax and obtaining the receipt
- Assessing the application of WHT on supplier invoices Ensure it is correctly reflected on the invoice
- Reviewing the withheld tax deductions and preparing the WHT schedules and cover letters
- Preparing pledge letters and remittances
- Filing with the GCT and obtaining the receipts
- Assisting in registering the employees for social security
- Preparing the monthly calculation and preparing the forms as per the local regulation
- Submitting to the SS department and obtaining the receipt
- Assisting in case a site inspection is requested by the SS department
- Ensure tax is correctly booked in the MBC (ERP) system in the correct GL. Liaise with the controller for this purpose.
- Assess any entries to be booked for tax cost
Requirements
- Qualification: Finance/regulatory graduation/post-graduation degree
- Experience: 4-5 years of experience with a Big4 in tax advisory function and industry experience in managing tax rules for an entity will be preferable
